Kicking things off for the 2007-08 season, from Argentina, will be TANGO BUENOS AIRES, a sizzling dance company known throughout the world as the most authentic and uncompromising performer of Argentina’s national dance. Tango Buenos Aires has performed in most of the great halls in North and South America, Europe and the Far East. The company, along with an orchestra and a vocalist, will take the stage at the Municipal Auditorium.

The eclectic sounds of Canadian quartet EBONY & IVORY will provide the second program of the season performing on  at . Ebony & Ivory plays a wide variety of music, including light classical,
Gershwin, New Age, ragtime, Benny Goodman, jazz, popular, classical,
and original compositions. With an astonishing array of instruments
(saxophone, multiple clarinets, piano, and state-of-the-art Korg Triton proX and Roland AX-1 keyboards, as well as bass and percussion), these multi-instrumentalists create an ever-changing palette of sound.

The first show of 2008 – the third of the 07-08 season – will be an afternoon performance of great spectacle and great music with flags flying and banners unfurling. Her Royal Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, will send to Charleston her 49-member BAND OF THE COLDSTREAM GUARDS and the 13-member Pipes, Drums and Highland Dancers of THE ROYAL SCOTS DRAGOON GUARDS. A welcoming salute from the Color Guard of the 130th Airlift Wing of the West Virginia Air National Guard will begin the festivities.

Our West Virginia hills will be alive with the sound of music when the Baron and Maria’s granddaughter – ELISABETH VON TRAPP – graces the stage of Charleston’s Municipal Auditorium. Yes, she sings some of the old songs, but mostly new, self-penned ballads. According to the Boston Globe, before the concert’s end, “…she will have the audience gasping with the sheer beauty of her voice.”

The final performance of the 07-08 season will be a celebration of Life and Love in the Sensational Seventies as Mac Frampton, his band and singers present YESTERDAY ONCE MORE. They’ll perform the music of The Carpenters, Anne Murray, Neil Diamond, Billy Joel, Barry Manilow, John Denver, The Village People, and many more.
